Schenectady - Sarah Fleming passed away on January 20, 2021 at age 99 surrounded by her loving nieces. She was the beloved daughter of William and Hannah Fleming and was born in Auchinleck, Ayrshire, Scotland. At age 8 she moved with her family from Scotland to Schenectady and has lived here ever since. She attended local schools graduating from Mont Pleasant High School in 1939. That same year she was employed by Union College and worked there for 47 years retiring in 1986 as Administrative Assistant to the Business Manager. She was very loyal to the College making life-long friends there. Right up to her death she still communicated with a few students she has known for more than 50 years. Sarah was very family oriented and her happiest times were spent with family, especially her young nieces and nephews. She was a loving Aunt to her family and a loving friend to those whose lives she touched. She was always interested in current events and was very concerned about the hunger and poverty in the world, especially among the children. She was a member of the Bellevue Reformed Church and Union College Quarter Century Club. Sarah was predeceased by her parents and brothers, William, Alexander and David. Survivors are her cherished nieces and nephews: Diana (Allan) Moldoff, Doris (Michael) Munro, Donna (David) Haughey, William (Janet) Fleming, Sharon (Bill) Daily, Ronald Fleming and numerous great-nieces and nephews. At Sarah’s request there will be a private graveside service at the convenience of the family.
