SCHENECTADY - Sam J. Pagano, 94, passed away peacefully at home on Friday January 5, 2024 after a long illness. He was born in Pittston, PA on July 23, 1929 to the late Salvatore J. and Mary Anna Nicotera Pagano. A resident of Schenectady for over 80 years, he was a graduate of Schenectady Vocational School, and then was a dry cleaner proprietor for Avon Cleaners and Formal Wear for over 50 years. Sam was a lifetime member of the Rotterdam Elks Lodge #2157, a member of the Young Businessmen's Association Bowling League for over 50 years, and a member of the Gold Key Golf League for over 50 years. In addition to his parents, Sam was predeceased by his wife, Andreana Corrado Pagano on December 3, 1998; his grandson, Vincent Pagano, Jr.; and his siblings, Charles and Nick Pagano, and Mary Madelone, Carmella Pompilio, Antoinette Morales, Jenny Shields, and Josephine Suraci.
Sam is survived by his children, Vincent (Christine) Pagano, Sr., Lori (John) Bucci, and Michele (Michael) Denny; his grandchildren, Janine (Chris Luciano) Galusha, Samuel Pagano, Jessica (Michael Chambers) Galusha, Michael (Courtney) Denny, and Megan (Robert) Lewis; nine great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, John (Arlene) Corrado; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Calling hours will be held on Friday January 12th from 9:30 to 11:30am at Our Lady Queen of Peace, Princetown Rd, Rotterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am. He will then be interred in Sts. Cyril & Method Cemetery, Rotterdam. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sam’s name to the Rotterdam Elks Lodge #2157, 1152 Curry Road, Schenectady, NY 12306.
