Salvatore Michael Gaudio

December 7, 1924 — November 2, 2017

Schenectady - Sal Gaudio, 92, passed away peacefully at Ellis Hospital on November 2, 2017. Born in Schenectady, NY on December 7, 1924 he was the son of Charles & Genevieve Gaudio. He joined the Navy during WWII and was stationed on the Island of Guam. After the war Sal completed his education at Mont Pleasant High School, Ithaca College with a B.S. in Physical Education and Physical Therapy, attended State Univ.at Cortland & NYU Graduate School for his masters in Physical Therapy. Sal worked as a Physical Therapist in private practice in Johnston, NY then joined NYS Health Dept. as a PT facilities inspector until retirement in 1988. After retirement Sal worked part-time at Glendale Nursing Facility treating patients until 2006. For 25 years he was Treasurer & Trustee at Rotterdam United Methodist Church. Sal enjoyed traveling, ballroom dancing, gardening and spending time with family & friends. He will be sadly missed by all who loved and knew him. Sal is survived by his wife of 65 years Eileen (Seigler) Gaudio, sons, Dan (Lynn) Gaudio, Greg (Mona) Gaudio and Tim Gaudio (deceased), his life partner Sue Simmons and 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. Sal was predeceased by brother Anthony Gaudio & sister Carolyn (Gaudio) Belensz. At Sal’s request funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be donated to the veterans’ organization Leatherstocking Honor Flight, PO Box 621 Cobleskill, NY 12043 or Rotterdam United Methodist Church, 1915 Helderberg Ave. Sch'dy, NY 12306.
