Ryan James Slover, age 22, of Guilderland, passed away tragically on Friday, July 24th, 2026, following a sudden accident at work. The team at Albany Medical Center did everything possible to save Ryan but his injuries were too profound. Ryan was born on February 11th, 2004, in Albany, NY. He was the cherished son of Dave and Destiny and the beloved brother of David and Milan.
Ryan graduated from Guilderland High School in 2022. One of Ryan’s goals was to own and run his own business. After honing his landscaping skills, he did just that, when he started Slover’s Pristine Lawn Care. During that time, he also worked for Paisano’s Pizza in Altamont. Ryan was a hard worker with a strong work ethic. He was always willing to learn something new. Most recently, he began working as a groundskeeper with Sevenzocks Property Maintenance and Landscaping Inc. It seemed that Ryan had found his niche and was excited about his future with the company.
Known for his kind heart, quick laughter, loyal friendship, and infectious smile, Ryan brought joy to everyone around him. His grandpa gave him the nickname, “Smiley,” as a baby and it was perfect! He had a deep passion and love for nature. He loved to hunt and fish and explore the outdoors. Ryan could always be counted on to be a great friend. He had the ability to strike up conversations with anyone. He lit up any gathering with his storytelling, antics, and laughter. Ryan had so much enthusiasm and lived every day of his short life to the fullest. His sudden loss leaves an emptiness in our hearts that can never be filled.
Ryan is survived by his parents, David and Destiny Slover; his siblings, David and Milan Slover; his daughter, Aurora Lynn; his paternal grandmother, Josephine Slover; his maternal grandmother, Cindy Bishop Patel; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
Ryan is predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Frederic C. Slover; his paternal great-grandparents, Dominick and Antonietta Barbalace; and his maternal grandfather, Kshyama Patel.
