Ruth L. Scott

SCHENECTADY - Ruth (Shatley) Scott, 98, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at the Glendale Nursing Home.

Born and educated in Schenectady she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lillian (Campbell) Shatley.

Ruth worked for many years as a housekeeper at the former Peacock Building in Schenectady.

She enjoyed gardening, tending to her plants, birds, crocheting and casinos. Ruth was a member of the Rotterdam Senior Citizens.

Wife of the late Joseph Scott; mother of Barbara (Russell) DeOrazio, Nancy (Michael) Webber, Lillian Long, John (Jocelyn) Scott and the late David Scott; sister of Dorothy Zeo, Lorraine Rockstroh, Charlotte Shatley, Catherine Canter, Charles Shatley and Henry Shatley. Ruth is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, her daughter-in-law Mary Ellen Scott and several nieces and nephews. Ruth was also predeceased by her granddaughter Linda DeOrazio.

Her funeral service will be Wednesday February 7, 2024 at 11:30 am in the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave. Rotterdam. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with her family prior to the service from 10:30 to 11:30 am in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Schenectady Memorial Park.
