Rosemary (Vanburen) Tappan

October 5, 1929 — February 23, 2022

Rotterdam - Rosemary “Boots” VanBuren Tappan, 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 23, 2022. Born in Colonie, daughter of Cornelius R. and Mary (Pomykai) VanBuren. After graduating from Roessleville High School, Rosemary worked at General Electric in Schenectady, where she met and married the love of her life, Philip Tappan. They settled in Glenville where they raised four children. Rosemary was President of the Roessleville High School AlumniAssociation and was involved with the Alplaus Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Second Reformed Church Ladies Guild. She loved music, dancing, bird watching, bowling and the sea shore. She could always be found at one of her children’s and/or grandchildren’s sporting events or activities, and she adored spending time with her great grandchildren. Rosemary is survived by her children: Ron Tappan, Dave (Donna) Tappan, Chris (George Santamaria) Tappan, Peg (Dennis) Anunziatta, and Ginny DeRusso. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Phil, Ashley, Dan, Pat, Tanya, Alex, Ed, Joe, Kim, Steve, Scott, Tony, Tami, Anjee, and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Philip, son Mike Tappan, and her brothers Schuyler, Cornelius and Wilbert VanBuren. Calling hours are on Monday, February 28, 2022, at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home in Rotterdam, from 4-6 pm, memorial service to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Cancer Society or the American Red Cross.
