Rotterdam -It is with great sorrow we announce thepeaceful passing of Rose Cotugno on April 12, 2016 at home.She was born in Schenectady on September 17, 1921.She was the daughter of the late Carmine and Mary (DeNisio) DeMarco.She was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Albert Cotugno.She was also predeceased by her two sisters, Marie (Anthony) Mauriello and Virginia (Dominic) DiNola, and her in-laws, Steve (Jean) Cotugno, Connie (Sal) DiDomenico, and Peter (Ruth) Cotugno. Rose graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and worked at General Electric during the beginning of her marriage.She worked there until she started a family.She was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, member of the St. Theresa Guild and worked the Mount Carmel Festa every year.Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Rose was a lover of life, travel, and humor in everything she did.Her laughter resonated in everyone she came in contact with.She always made jokes, whether she was folding clothes, sipping wine or sitting on the beach in a "stolen" chair.She made life interesting while laughing either at her self or everyone else. She is survived by her three sons, Richard (Cynthia) Cotugno, Paul (Mary Alice) Cotugno, and Thomas Cotugno.She has six grandchildren, Matthew and Jason Cotugno, sons of Richard;Paul (Mara), Nicole (Joseph), and Jonathan (Sara) Cotugno sons and daughter of Paul; and Nikolas Cotugno, son of Thomas.She has two great-grandchildren.Sara Reifenberger, the daughter of Nicole (Joseph), and Paul G. Cotugno, the son of Paul (Mara).She is also survived by Donald (Marge) Cotugno, and good friend Sadie Guerra, and several nieces and nephews. We would like to give a warm thanks to Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Rd, Albany, 12205 for the vigilant effort in aiding Rose to feel comfortable and peaceful in her last days.In lieu of flowers, we would like donations sent to Community Hospice for their excellent end-of-life care. Calling hours will be held at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam on Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Funeral services will begin 10 AM Monday at the Funeral Home followed by an 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery.
