Ronald E. Tanski, 88, of Niskayuna, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Ellis Hospital. Born on August 4, 1935, in Schenectady to the late Edmund and Veronica Bogucki Tanski, he was a beloved member of the community. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Rosemary, and by his sister, Constance Montgomery.
He was raised in Schenectady, graduating from St. Columba’s before attending Siena College, where he earned a Bachelor’s in Economics. Ronald proudly served in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1958 as a 1st Lieutenant. After his military service, he embarked on a successful career in Sales, dedicating himself to various companies until his retirement in 2016. On August 11, 1956, he married the love of his life, Rosemary Murphy, with whom he shared 66 years of cherished memories. Together, they built a life and family filled with love and care.
A devout parishioner of St. Gabriel’s Church, Ronald found solace and strength in his faith, which guided him throughout his life.
Ronald had a passion for sports, particularly for the NY Giants and Premiere Soccer. He took immense joy in watching his grandchildren play soccer and was their biggest supporter, traveling far and wide to cheer them on. In his leisure time, he enjoyed friendly games of billiards with his friends at the Glen Eddy and testing his luck at the slot machines in casinos.
Known for his affable nature and genuine kindness, Ronald had a remarkable ability to forge meaningful connections with everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by his children, Joseph Tanski (Mary Gene), Richard Tanski (Deborah), and Mary Campagnano (Bob); grandchildren, Joey Tanski (Leah), Frank Campagnano, Richard Tanski (Jessica), and Tony Campagnano (Diana); great-grandchildren, Lucy Rose and Edmund “Teddy”; nieces, Linda, and Tami.
Ronald's legacy of warmth, generosity, and camaraderie will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. The family extends special thanks and gratitude to Dr. Talat Mahmood, Dr. Sakeet Gupta, Dr. Parag Parikh and the wonderful leadership team, staff and friends at The Glen Eddy for their care and support.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 12th from 9 to 10am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, followed by a funeral service at 10am. He will then be interred at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Donations in his memory can be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
