Ronald M. Shambo, 68, of Schenectady, died on Friday, August 5, 2016 at Ellis Hospital. Ron was born in Niskayuna and graduated from Linton High School in 1965. He was employed as a Roofer and Steeplejack with Mid State Industries and Tri City Roofing. He was a member of the Rotterdam Elks and enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping in the Adirondacks. Ron was predeceased by his parents, John M. and Gertrude Dziubek Shambo and his brother, John Shambo. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Laura Carlock Shambo, children; Robert Shambo, Nicolle Shambo, Christopher (Kim) Shambo and Amy (Ron) Lamoureaux, two sisters; Barbara Osborne and Gail (John) Rufer and his brother; Paul (Ida) Shambo, eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin on Thursday, 9 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Special thanks to Dr. Vincent Samaio, Dr. Eugene Goykhman, and all the staff members on the Birch Unit at Capital Living Nursing and Rehabilitation for the care and compassion they gave Ron and his family during his time there, and also to the staff members of the Ellis E-1 ICU.
