Rotterdam- Ronald J. "Mac" McCarthy Sr. 77, ofHelen Street Passed away peacefully at Ellis Hospital on October 28 ,2013 after a brief illness. Mac was born on December 6, 1935 to the late John and Laura Murphy McCarthy in Albany NY. He served in the United States Air force from 1952 to 1954. Mac married his beloved wife Sally (Boyd) in 1960. For several years he was employed as a window washer then was employed as an ironworker with Union Local 12. He worked on the Empire Plaza, the Gilboa Dam and the Times Union Center. Mac served as a trustee on the Board of the Local 12. He greatly enjoyed his time with his family, traveling, spending time at the ocean and enjoying a hearty meal. Mac is survived by his wife Sally , his daughter Loralee McCarthy of Cape Cod, and his son Ronald McCarthy Jr. and his companion Nicole Fondacaro of Rotterdam,two grandchildren Kyra And Connor McCarthy and their Mother Ann McCarthy, his sister Sandra Pinchook and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Paul McCarthy. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home Inc 1605 Helderberg Ave Rotterdam on Friday November 1, 2013 from 4 pm to 8p m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 2, 2013 at 9:30 at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery Menands NY. The family respectfully Requests that donations may be made in Mac's name to the St Jude's Children Research Hospital or to Make a Wish Foundation.
