Ronald Manocchi, 82, passed away unexpectedly in his home on November 15, 2024, in Scotia, New York. Born on August 6, 1942, in The Bronx, Ron dedicated much of his life to serving others, both through his career and personal endeavors.
Ron served honorably in the US Army from April 1963 to April 1969, a period during which he developed skills and friendships that lasted a lifetime. Following his military service, he embarked on a distinguished 35-year career as a broadcast engineer for WRGB Channel 6 in Niskayuna, NY. His technical expertise and dedication to quality broadcasting were well recognized among his peers.
Known for his vibrant sense of humor and willingness to help others, Ron was deeply loved by friends and family alike. He was the kind of person who never sought help for himself but was always the first to offer assistance to others.
Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean Manocchi, in 2021. He is survived by his sons, Rick Manocchi (Patricia) and Mike Manocchi; granddaughters, Jordan, Ashely, and Calli Manocchi; and his brother John Manocchi (Betty).
Calling hours will be held Monday from 5-7 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Tuesday at the Church of the Immaculate Conception 400 Saratoga Rd., Glenville.
Burial, with military honors, will follow at Saratoga National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to amvets.org , an organization close to Ron's heart, reflecting his commitment to veteran affairs.
Ronald Manocchi will be remembered as a devoted family man, a loyal friend, and a respected professional. His legacy of kindness and service will continue to inspire those who knew him.
