Ronald H Battaglia Sr

Rotterdam- Ronald H. Battaglia Sr. , 76, at rest Wednesday, October 30, 2013. Ron was born in Gloversville, the son of the late Henry and Margaret "Peg"(Hicks) Battaglia. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958. After his military service Ron was employed in various capacities at the General Electric Co. in Schenectady. He later workedin the Water Dept. of the Town of Rotterdam for many years, retiring in 1995. For enjoyment, Ron raced cars in the formative years of NASCAR and also enjoyed racing and riding motorcycles. A family man, Ron enjoyed doting over and was very proud of his grandchildren. He was a member of American Legion Post 347 in Florida. Ron was the beloved husband of 53 years to Pauline (Kardash) Battaglia; beloved father of Ronald (Mary) Battaglia Jr., Mary (Robert) Lulis; all of Virginia, Tina (Don) Bernhoft of Florida, William Battaglia and Nadine Battaglia; both of Rotterdam.Ron is also survived by 15 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held Sunday, Nov.3 from6 to 8pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam. All are invited Monday to a10am Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. Gabriel, 3040 Hamburg St. Schenectady and to a service with military honors which will follow at 12:30pm in a committal shelter of Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, N.Y.
