Rocco A Visconti

d. June 27, 2021

Rocco A. Visconti, 93, died at his home Sunday, June 27, following a brief illness. Rocco was predeceased by his parents Anthony and Louise (Fasulo) Visconti and his siblings Thomas Visconti, Philomena Giuliani, Carmela Badalucco , Margaret Albanese and Anna McKinlay. He was born in Amsterdam, New York and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School. He is survived by the love of his life of 57 years, Helen Visconti (Zanta); his children Donna Ranalli (Bob) of Guilderland; Diane Ritz (Don) of Rotterdam; Lori Craig of Ft. Johnson and Kim Visconti of Dalton, MA; his grandchildren Nicholas Ranalli (Allison), Kristina Cerrone (Marc), Jake Ritz, Jason Craig, Eric Craig (Lisa) and Jamie Craig as well as several nieces and nephews. Rocco served his country in the Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War conflict. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and it was a true honor to be his wife, daughter, son, or grandchild. He was the happiest when he was working, either at his job as a service rep for Niagara Mohawk for 38 years retiring in 1990 or helping family and friends building or repairing something. His passion was helping anyone and everyone. He always took his pail of tools over to fix any problem you had. Nothing was ever impossible for him to tackle. He loved working outdoors at his home and took pride in his property, always having the best kept lawn and garden. Decorating their home for the Christmas holiday was his favorite thing to do so you could see his lights from a distance. His grandchildren were lucky to spend time with him in his retirement while they were growing up. They learned a lot of life lessons from him, sharing a snickers bar or two during the day. He was a great story and joke teller, loved music and dancing. His beautiful blue eyes and smile were priceless. He will be missed by many. Calling hours will be held Friday, July 2, from 8:15 am to 10:15 am at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam, followed at 11 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at Church of St. Paul the Apostle,2777 Albany Street in Schenectady. Interment will take place in St. John’s Cemetery, Schenectady. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rocco’s memory to the Glaucoma Research Foundation or a charity of choice.
