Roberta L. Vacca, 76, of Rotterdam, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Schenectady, Roberta was the daughter of the late Lee and Aldina Martini. She graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and received her RN from the Ellis Hospital School of Nursing. For over 30 years, Roberta was a nurse on the IV Team at St. Clare’s Hospital touching the lives of many patients and their families. She was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish where every July she could be found cheerfully serving pizza fritta at the annual Festa. She loved to cook and was always in her kitchen making something for the people she loved, especially her husband and grandchildren. Roberta enjoyed music and singing and was a longtime member of the Choraliers of Schenectady . She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Edward D. Vacca, three daughters; Dina (Richard) Allen of Scotia, Margaret (Tom) Andriola of Guilderland and Marybeth (Eben) Snyder of Washington, DC., her sister; Sylvia (Robert) Donahue of Rotterdam, her brother; John (Jacqueline) Martini of Glenville, Brother in law William Doberneck of Rotterdam, seven grandchildren; Patrick, Justin, Sophia, Olivia, Alexandra, Natalie and Molly. She was also “Auntie” to many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Roberta was predeceased by her sister, Leona Doberneck. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4-6 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Schenectady, 12306 Funeral services will begin on Monday, 8:15 from the funeral home, followed at 9 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Schenectady, 12303 Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Mt.
