Rotterdam – Robert E. Volpe, 80, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn. Bob was born in Schenectady, the son of the late George Volpe and Anne (Voci) Senecal. He was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and Spencer Business Institute. Bob worked as a Court Reporter for 56 years, 20 of which were as a Certified Shorthand Reporter for the New York State Supreme Court, Third Judicial District, Albany, New York. He was an avid fly fisher and traveled the country with his best friend, Bob Stockton.He was a proud member of Sons of Italy, enjoying camaraderie with colleagues and the competition of bocce among his friends. Bob was an excellent home chef - especially when working with Cajun and Italian cooking. His passionate hobbies included photography, woodworking, gardening, golfing and spending time traveling, laughing with friends (he was a superb story-teller), and attending art and entertainment venues with the light of his life – Cheryl Lynn. Bob leaves behind his beloved wife, Cheryl Lynn (Winegar) Volpe; his sons, Rob (Lori) Volpe and Christopher (Maria) Volpe; grandchildren, Aubrey Volpe, Francesca Volpe, Christopher Volpe and Lorenzo Volpe; and his cousins, Kathy (Jim) Beswick and Bill (Maxine) Pecora. Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his grandson, Robbie Volpe. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a date and time to be announced.
