Robert A "Bob" Ranalli

Guilderland-Robert A. Ranalli, 62, of Guilderland, passed peacefully at home on February 14th with his family by his side following a brief illness. Born in Schenectady, he is the son of Marie E. (Pasquariello) and the late Leo Ranalli. Raised in Rotterdam, he was a graduate of Mohonasen High School. He worked for 25 years at General Electric before moving into facilities management roles at Excelsior College and, most recently, with CBRE Inc. His attention to detail was admired by many. He never did anything without thorough research and facts to make sure a job was well done. His most important role in life was that of a devoted husband, father, and son. His greatest joy was participating and watching his children in their various school and sports activities. Most of his time was spent on sports fields and at cheerleading or dance events. He wouldn’t have had it any other way. His children were his pride and joy. Any other spare time was spent relaxing in his gazebo or keeping his lawn in tip top shape, without a leaf in sight. Annual visits to Cape Cod and Sanibel Island, FL throughout the years were where he found solace and peace. Any life decisions were always made at one of those special places where he could think things through away from it all. Those that really knew Bob know he was pretty matter of fact, always told it like it was, and had a few choice phrases that would make us all chuckle. Bob is the beloved husband of 40 years to Donna (Visconti) Ranalli; devoted father to Nicholas (Allison) Ranalli of Swampscott, MA and Kristina (Marc) Cerrone of Niskayuna, NY; son-in-law of Helen and the late Rocco Visconti of Rotterdam; and brother of Cheryl Niedhammer of Rotterdam along with many additional special family members and friends. Bob held a special place in his heart for the “Zanta Cousins”, his baseball families, and Friday night date nights. Visitation will be at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam, NY on Friday, February 17th, from 11 am – 1pm, followed by services at the funeral home (1 pm) with Bishop Christopher Richard, officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob’s memory to the Melanoma Research Foundation.
