Robert Turner Noble, Jr, 90, of Schenectady, died peacefully at Ellis Hospital, June 2, 2015 after a stroke. He was born November 15, 1924, at his home in Prospect Park, PAHe is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Barbara C. Noble, his 5 children, Cynthia (Larry) Sayler of Greenville, IL, Katherine Noble of Scotia, Robert (Holly) Noble, III of Ballston Spa, Nancy (Daniel) Olson of Bend, OR, and Susan (Martin) Benoit of Glenville, 11 grandchildren, RC (Melissa) Sayler, Stacia (Christopher) Anderson, Jennifer Sayler, Shane Sayler, Nancy (Jason) Barnes, Carolyn (Jordan) Hoerl, Daniel Olson, Amy Olson, Michael (Kristin) Benoit, Jeremy Benoit, Luke Benoit and 7 great grandchildren, Russell and Maxwell Sayler, Alannah, Alyssa and Quinn Anderson, Ezra Barnes and Eden and Henley Hoerl.He is also survived by his brother, Leslie Noble of New Holland, PAHe was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruth Noble, his sister, Norma (Richard) Meyrick and brother, David Noble. > Upon graduating from Collingdale (PA) High School in 1943, he entered the Navy and served proudly as a weatherman on a ship in the Pacific during WWII.After the war he attended Houghton College, where he met Barbara and they were married on June 5, 1948 at her home in Syracuse, NY.He received a BS in Music from Syracuse U. in 1950 and taught music at Houghton College, Piedmont College (GA) and the Windsor Central School District.Within those years he earned a Masters Degree in Music from Ithaca College.He started playing the trumpet at age 12 continuing to 90 years of age.Through the years he played his trumpet faithfully Sunday nights at church.In 1959 Bob made a career change and moved his family to Scotia to join the Scotia-Glenville School District as a Guidance Counselor until his retirement in 1979.In his retirement, he taught music at Mekeel Academy (formerly Schenectady Christian School) where he started a concert band and continued teaching private trumpet lessons.Bob was a member of the Annie Schaffer Orchestra, the Colonie Town Band and the Clifton Park Orchestra on the Common.In addition to music, his interests included fishing, gardening, and racing homing pigeons and for many years was active in the Schenectady Homing Pigeon Club and in the Scotia Kiwanis.Bob and Barbara spent 6 months traveling the US and enjoyed many Florida winters in their travel trailer. Wherever Bob lived he sought out a local church in order to share his love for Christ through his musical talents.East Glenville Community Church and First Presbyterian Church of Schenectady were 2 local churches where Bob and his family worshiped and served over the years. He had a great love for education, music, his entire family, and for his Lord and Savior. A memorial service, with military honors, will be held on Monday, 11 am at First Presbyterian Church, 209 Union St. Schenectady, 12305. Burial will be private at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville. Memorial gifts maybe made to City Mission of Schenectady, P.O.
