Rotterdam - Robert J. Hart “Bob” was born on March 22, 1938, in Schenectady, New York. He passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026 at 87 years old.
Bob was one of six children born to Harry and Everil Hart (Luke) of Schenectady. He attended Nott Terrace School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Bob protected his community as a member of the District 2 Fire Department for 11 years and retired in 2003 from the Rotterdam Town Highway Department. Bob was a devoted husband to Judy and they were happily married for 64 years. Together, they raised their daughter, Jane, and centered their world around her and her husband, Joe, and their three children. Bob loved to play horseshoes, darts, and go camping, but his real passion was fishing. Whether he was at his favorite honey hole on Sacandaga Lake in Northville, NY, fishing for stripers on the Hudson River or ocean fishing in York Beach Maine, you would always find him with his beloved brother and companion, Norman. Bob was a true New York sports fan, supporting the Yankees, Giants and the Rangers, but his favorite teams were anything that his grandchildren were participating in, and he was undoubtedly their biggest fan.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Judy, daughter, Jane, son-in-law, Joe, and grandchildren, Troy (Kyliene), Kyle and Tristin Bennett, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Bob is pre-deceased by his parents, Harry and Everil Hart, and siblings, Harry (Miriam), Larry (Ruth), Loren (Marion), Ruth (Carl), Norman (Colleen) and brother-in-law, Robert Gross (Sharon).
