Robert M Dugan

Schenectady- Robert M. Dugan, 98, at rest on Friday September 5, 2014. Robert was born in East Worcester, N.Y., the son of the late William H. and Blanche Dugan. With his family he moved to Schenectady in 1920. He attended Schenectady schools, graduating from Nott Terrace High in 1933. After graduating and unable to attend college, Robert secured a job at General Electric as a "mail boy". After completing accounting courses offered by General Electric he was promoted to Payroll Leader. In 1946 while still working full time at G.E. he began evening classes at Siena College, eventually graduating Cum Laude with a B.B.A in Accounting. Robert was successful in obtaining substantial monies for General Electric for which he received a managerial award. Over time he was promoted to a Manager of Accounting, later retiring with 45 years of service. In retirement Robert became interested in the game of pool; playing at various senior citizen organizations. More recently he purchased two professional tables and had them installed at the Rotterdam Senior Citizens Center. He had many friends who participated in pool play on these tables. He was a long time member of Lynnwood Reformed Church and a member of the St. George's Lodge #6. Robert will be missed by many. Robert lost his wife of 64 years, Grace, in July of 2012. He is also predeceased by his son William (2009). He is survived by a son, John (Roxiann) Dugan; grandchildren, Jennifer (Brad) Bundesen, John (Christina) Dugan; great grandchildren, Emily and Evan Bundesen; all of Fairborn, Ohio; a cousin, Karen Simpson of Fultonville, N.Y. A calling hour will be held Wednesday from 11 am-12 noon at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A Masonic service will immediately follow at 12 noon and a service by the Pastor of Lynnwood Reformed Church will begin at 12:30 pm. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda, N.Y.
