Robert “Bob” Draiss, 62, of Esperance passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025 following a valiant battle with cancer. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Jane; children Alexandra (Kevin) Sandoval and Evan (Alexandria) Draiss; grandchildren Ariella and Carter; sister Lynne; beloved family friend Maureen (Mimi) Burdo; and a large, boisterous group of Renslow in-laws, Esperance neighbors, Curry Freeze coworkers, and Back Barn friends.
A lifelong resident of the capital region, Bob attended Guilderland High School, SUNY Albany and the College of Saint Rose. Bob was the proud owner and operator of Curry Freeze Ice Cream in Rotterdam and was known to many as “Mister Bob.” A loyal Red Sox fan, Bob loved to talk sports with customers and friends. He was a proud benefactor of many youth sports teams including Rotterdam Little League, youth softball teams, and a women’s football team.
The family would like to express immeasurable gratitude to America’s Uncle Dave, the Burdo family, Chris and AlyseBlanchette, and the caring staff of Albany Medical Center’s E8 acute rehab unit.
In keeping with his wishes there will not be a public service. Immediate family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Operation at Ease, an organization benefiting veterans and rescue dogs. Arrangements by DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, Rotterdam.
