Albany - Robert W. Conklin, 77, passed away on February 7th, 2023. Born in Geneva, NY, Robert has been a resident of Albany since 1952. He worked for the NYS department of transportation from 1970–2003, retiring as a head supervisor in the railroad inspection unit. He was a lifelong member of Saint Boniface Church, where he served as an acolyte, lector, and member of the choir. Robert was a scoutmaster for Troop 2 of the Boy Scouts of America from 1974–2021. Under Bob’s leadership, he had 47 scouts that attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Robert is survived by his older brother, Richard F Conklin, (Arlene Genest Conklin), of Port St. Lucie Florida. He is also survived by four nephews and nieces: David Conklin (Melissa Conklin) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Michelle Conklin Bender (Kenneth Bender) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Julie Conklin Brennan (Michael Brennan) of Ft. Pierce Florida and Steven Conklin (Adriana Conklin) of West Palm Beach, Florida as well as 3 grand-nieces, and 6 grand-nephews. A service honoring Robert’s life will take place on Saturday, February 25th at 10am at St. Boniface Church, 5148 Western Ave., Guilderland, NY 12084 with Rev. Peter Schellhase officiating.
