Robert M. Case

d. March 6, 2024

Robert “Bob” Michael Case, 65, of Glenville, NY, regretfully passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Ellis Hospital from complications of pneumonia.

Bob, loving and selfless husband, father, and Poppy, known for his kind soul and lively spirit, was born on June 30th to his parents Richard and Barbara Case in Amsterdam, NY. He graduated from Bishop Scully High School where he was an athlete across many sports including football, basketball, and baseball. Later, he attended SUNY Potsdam and married his high-school sweetheart Lynne Lasky, who later died of cancer in 1996. Before her passing, Bob and Lynne raised their two children, Alicia and Marc, in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, NY.

The proverbial foodie and grocery connoisseur, Bob worked across many food distributors in the Capital Region. Starting his career at Quandt’s food service in Amsterdam, followed by United Food Service where he met his current wife Bonnie (Wentink) Case. Bob and Bonnie continued building the Case family in Eldorado Acres by welcoming children Frank and Megan.

Bob was the consummate host, master of ceremonies, and chef. He made sure everyone felt welcome, had a full belly, and plenty of belly laughs too. Family and friends always could count on a delicious meal with Bob in the kitchen.

He was a grocery store guru, a man of quick wit, someone with unlimited sports trivia, and known for expert plays in Words with Friends. Most importantly, he had a huge heart filled with warmth that he brought to everyone around him, especially his beloved Schalmont community. Over the past five years he proudly worked for the district.

A die-hard Yankees and Giants fan, his family now hopes he can enjoy the games from above and root on plenty of more pennants and Lombardi trophies.

His positivity guided him through every hardship, often quoting his favorite crooner, singing “I’m A number one, Top of the list, King of the hill.” And embodying the “I did it my way” mantra.

“It’s 3PM, time for happy hour,” was how he and his wife/best friend would enjoy their afternoons together.

Bob was predeceased by his parents Richard and Barbara Case and his first wife Lynne Lasky-Case.

Survivors include his wife Bonnie Case of Glenville, daughter Alicia Case and son-in-law Anthony Guadalupe Jr of New York City, son Marc Case, daughter-in-law Shannon and his newest grandson Matthew Ryan of Colonie, son Frank Case attending Glenmont Job Corp, and daughter Megan Case attending college at SUNY Stonybrook. Along with his two brothers and their families, Bill Case and Lisa Cassetta of Louisville, KY and Tim Case of Cape Coral, FL – and the extended members of the Case, Wentink, and Lasky families.

A wake and viewing services will be held on Wednesday, March 13 from 3:30-6:30PM at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home at 1605 Helderberg Ave. Rotterdam, NY 12306.
