Rotterdam – Robert G. Adamec, 77, passed away on Monday, July 24th, 2023 in the comfort of his home with his family by his side.
Bobby was born in Schenectady, the son of the late Anthony F. Adamec and Rose (Cimino) Adamec.
He was a graduate of Mohonasen High School and shortly after graduation began working for Weber Construction. It was Bobby’s dream to work in construction but his mother had other plans. He soon after began working for the family business, The Edgewood Restaurant in Rotterdam.
At the restaurant, Bobby could be found cooking or making drinks behind the bar and always greeting guests with his warm, caring and generous personality.
When the restaurant closed in 2002, Bobby went to work for Price Chopper in their deli department. After 5 years, he decided to take a position as monitor at Shenendehowa Central School District, a job that held a special place in Bob’s heart. He cherished his time there and the relationships he made with the staff and students.
Bobby was an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants fan. He was also a lucky gambler, enjoying his trips to the Saratoga Race Course, Atlantic City and Las Vegas.
Family was everything to Bobby, he loved summers at the Jersey Shore and rarely missed a grandkids’ sporting event.
As Bobby would say, his life consisted of the “5 F’s”: Family, Faith, Friends, Food and Fun. Bobby threw the best parties - he goes to reunite and share his hospitality with his dear customers, friends, aunts, uncles and cousins at the Edgewood Banquet table in Heaven.
He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 55 years, JoAnn (Mogavero) Adamec; his girls, Lisa Burg (Joe) and Cathy Pardi (Jeff); cherished grandchildren, Karly Burg, Victoria Pardi, the late Joshua Burg, Jake Pardi and Alyssa Burg. He also leaves behind his brother, John Adamec (Norine), sister-in-law, Rosalie Claughsey (John) and his lifelong family friends, Robbie and Cathy Caruso, who never left his side throughout the difficult past few months.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, August 2 from 4-7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30am at St. John the Evangelist Church, 806 Union St., Schenectady. Bob will laid to rest at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the “Robert Adamec Memorial Scholarship”. This scholarship will go to a deserving Shenendehowa student who attended Acadia middle school and exemplifies qualities important to Bobby.
Donations can be made at any Pioneer Bank location or sent to Pioneer Bank at 652 Albany Shaker Road, Albany, NY 12211.
