Rita Marie (Baillargeon) Tetreault

Guilderland - Rita Marie Tetreault, age 59, passed away on 12/7/17 at her home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Rita was born on March 29, 1958 in Springfield, MA to Paul and Jeannette Baillargeon. Rita was a 1981 graduate of the University of Vermont with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. Rita started her nursing career working at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, then relocated to the Albany area where she worked for the Albany VNA from 1983 until 1989. Rita worked with her husband at his medical practice and eventually Capital Care Medical Group, LLC from 1989 until her passing. Rita was instrumental in helping her husband open his solo family practice, Guilderland Family Medicine, in 1989. Rita was always the “heart and soul” of the medical practice, supported the formation of Capital Care Medical Group, LLC in 1998, as well as the creation of the Carman Medical Arts complex in Guilderland in 2006. Rita was a devoted wife, mother, and caregiver. She loved spending time at her summer lake house in Sturbridge, MA where she grew up as a child. She loved water skiing, swimming, boating, and relaxing with family and friends. Rita’s warm smile and laughter was associated with unending compassion and generosity that made everyone feel wanted and special. Rita was an avid reader and her book club, “Rita’s Readers”, was a treasured part of her life and continues to meet monthly. Rita is survived by her loving husband, William R. Tetreault, M.D. of 34 years and her cherished children, Matthew W. Tetreault, M.D. (Keri), Nicole M. Tetreault, M.D. (Kelly), and Danielle M. Tetreault. Rita is survived by her mother, Jeannette Baillargeon, and predeceased by her father, Paul Baillargeon. She is survived by her siblings, Henri Baillargeon, Robert Baillargeon (Tammy), Louise Astuccio (Joseph), Therese Hillman (Reed), and Claire Groccia (Tod). She is also survived by her mother in law, Alice Hartson (Brian) and brother and sister in laws, Andrew Meyer and Dolores Tetreault, M.D., Peter and Dianne Greco, Francis and Barbara Tetreault, and Edward Tetreault. She is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Alexi Wright and her medical team at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute for their unfaltering dedication and compassionate medical care. Calling hours will be at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home located at 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam, NY on Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 11 am to 3pm. A private memorial service for the family will be held immediately following visitation. There will be private burial services held in the spring of 2018. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rita’s memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA or the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance OCRFA.
