Rita (Polsinelli) Calafiore, born April 16, 1942, passed away on July 7, 2024 following a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Frosinone, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Domenico and Marianna Polsinelli. Rita worked as a seamstress at Bellrod Manufacturing Company and subsequently the Loretta Lane Bridal Shop until she retired in 1995. She is best remembered for her kindness and generosity, unwavering faith, cooking, and most of all spending time with her family – especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Rita was predeceased by her loving husband of over 50 years, Carmine, as well as her brothers, Mario, Antonio, Vincent, Samuel, Guido and sister Elena. She is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Perkins (Vern), Vincenza Nanci (Nick), and Mary Calafiore. Rita leaves behind her beloved grandchildren; Christopher (Luz), Anthony, Jacqueline (Erik), Andrew, Mathew (Kaetlyn), and Domenico (Tara), and great grandchildren Isabella, Vanessa, Josephine, Amorin, Renderick, Victor, Camila, Celise, Christopher, and Domenico Jr. She is also survived by her brothers Donato and Vito, as well as her sisters-in-law in Italy; Anna Fuschi, Immacolata Mela, and Annunziata Fontanella and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Sunday, July 14, 2024, from 4 pm to 7 pm at DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 pm on Monday at the Funeral Home followed by a 1:30 pm Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lukes Roman Catholic Church on State Street in Schenectady. Entombment will follow at the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
