Charlton- Richard Arthur Nardi, 79, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 10th. Born in Schenectady, NY, he was the son of the late Arthur Nardi and Catherine Friello Nardi. On July 6, 1961 he married Valera Lynn Ferguson Nardi. They were happily married for 60 years. After graduating from Mont Pleasant High School in 1960, Richard would then join the United States Army where he served his country both honorably and faithfully from December 1960 to April 1964. He then went to work for the General Electric Company as a Machinist until his retirement. He was a member of the Moose Club, the Elks Club, and was a life member Guan Ho Ha Fish and Game Club in Glenville, NY. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, spending time at his camp in Westford, travelling with his wife to their house in Florida during the winter, and spending time with his family. Many who knew Richard also knew of the pride he took in his Italian heritage and traditions. He is survived by his wife, Valera Lynn Nardi of Charlton, NY, his children; Rosanne Toohey (Donn Rowe) of Charlton, NY, Richard Nardi Jr. (Lisa) of Glenville, NY, and Darrin Nardi (Melinda) of Mechanicsburg, PA, his grandchildren; Megan Tonzi (Richard), Amanda Fripp (Jason), Rebecca Alescio (Nick), Matthew Nardi (Skyla), and Marissa Nardi, his great grandchildren; Lydia Fripp, Heidi Fripp, Finn Tonzi, Theo Tonzi, and Nora Alescio, his sisters, Marianne Bucci and Nancy Billsborrow, as well as several nieces, nephews, his extended Florida family, and many close friends. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Garbo with New York Oncology and Hematology, the Nursing staff at St. Peter’s Hospital, and Community Hospice for their compassion when taking care of Richard, as well as the many family friends and coworkers for their support during this time. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 14 from 5pm to 7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Schenectady. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Luke’s Church in Schenectady at 9am on Wednesday, December 15. Burial will follow at Ballston Spa Village Cemetery.
