Berne NY-Richard J. Lyons, 66, of Bradt Hollow Road Passed away unexpectedly at home on September9 2014 . Born on August 19 1948 in Niskayuna he was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine Grabowski. He was raised in Berne and was a graduate of Berne Knox High School. He continued his education at Cobleskill Ag & Tech, earning his bachelor degree in Business at Russell Sage. Richard was employed in real estate sales with Prudential Manor Homes. He is remembered by his family as a loving Husband ,Dad and "Peep " to his precious grandchildren. He was an avid Giants and Yankees fan, he loved golfing with the Chopper's and was member of the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce. Richard was a lifelong communicant of St. Lucy/St . Bernadette Church Altamont NY; he was very proud of his service to our country serving in the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his wife Donna (Campbell) whom he married on March 31 1973 their children Maureen (John) Monkell of Pensacola Fl, Sean (Jennifer) Lyons of Berne , Scott (Tara) Lyons of Berne and Jessica Lyons of Berne. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren Meredith and Matthew Monkell of Mobile Al. Megan Lyons of Greensboro NC and Zachary and Gavin Lyons of Berne NY. Two Sisters Susan (Larry) Strauss of Levittown NY and Patricia Tokarz of Queensbury NY and his mother Gladys Lyons of Long Island NY. Richard was predeceased by his parents Joe and Josie and his sister Sandra Triolo. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home Inc 5216 Western Turnpike Guilderland NY 12084 on Friday September 12 2014 from 4 pm to 7pm. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Saturday September 13 2014 at 9:30.Immediately following a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am at St Lucy/ St Bernadette Church Altamont NY .Interment will follow at Wood lawn Cemetery Berne.
