Richard P Lawrence

Rotterdam- Richard (Rit) Paul Lawrence, 70, of Rotterdam passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on October 29, 2015. He was born on July 4, 1945 in Schenectady a son of Roy and Ann Lawrence. Rit was a lifetime resident of Schenectady. Rit was a fun, energentic husband, father and grandfather who loved life and his family. He was always laughing and smiling. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1963 and served in the Air National Guard Reserve for 6 years. Rit worked 45 years at Niagara Mohawk /National Grid and also enjoyed delivering flowers for Dom Gallo Florists. Rit enjoyed coaching Rotterdam Little League and for many years was a volunteer fireman at South Schenectady Fire Department. In his spare time he loved spending time with his family, including many family vacations. He also loved watching sports, horse racing, fishing and a good cigar. Rit was extremely loving and proud of his family. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Sandy, two sons Greg (Paula) Lawrence of Rotterdam and Darren (Nancy) Lawrence of Guilderland three grandchildren Cody, Aiden and Aviana Lawrence two step grandchildren Ashley and Lexy Loomis, a sister Judy (Lew) Schedlbauer of Voorheesville NY and a brother Tom (DeeDee) Lawrence of Southport NC Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home Inc on Monday November 2 2015 from 4 pm to 7 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9am at St Joseph's Church Schenectady on Tuesday November 3 2015Interment will follow at St Cyril's Cemetery Rotterdam
