Rotterdam- Richard E. “Rit” Krosky, 68, at rest February 16, 2019. A lifelong area resident, Rit was born in Schenectady on January 12, 1951. He was a Police Officer for twenty three years for the Town of Rotterdam. Rit was later employed by the Mohonasen School District for another 15 years where he was a security officer. He was also an Instructor that taught Hunter Safety Education for over 25 years. He also served as an Instructor at NYS Motorcycle Safety School. He was also a member of the Renegade Pig Motorcycle Club where he served as the club’s Vice President. Rit was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. He enjoyed playing poker on Friday nights, attending Union College hockey games with his grandchildren. Rit was also a member of the Rotterdam Elks Lodge 2157. Rit was the beloved son of Richard S. “Dick” Krosky and the late Helen Masick; beloved step-son of the late Patricia Krosky; beloved husband of Cynthia “Cindy” (Thyrring) Krosky who he was married to for the last 43 years; beloved father of Erik (Lorinda) Gandrow, Glenn (Kristina) Gandrow, Kristina (Stephen) Helstowski; loving grandfather of Zachary, Nathan, Emily Gandrow, Jack Helstowski, Isabelle Andreine and his K-9 grandchildren Chloe, Hulk, and Ivy. A memorial calling period will be held on Thursday, February 21 at the DeMarco - Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Calling hours will be 11am to 3pm with a service to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Autism Society in Rit’s name.
