SCHENECTADY - Richard (Dickie) L. Hunt, 86, passed away on Monday January 22, 2024. A lifelong resident of Schenectady, he was born on December 17, 1937 to the late Frank and Lillian Surprenant Hunt. After graduating high school, Dick became a barber, and continued to work as a barber throughout his life, even during his time as a tool manufacturer at General Electric. He enjoyed hunting, bowling, playing poker, spending time with his many friends, traveling to Las Vegas with his wife and was a huge Elvis fan. His biggest enjoyment was attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. You would always find him cheering them on in the crowd. He truly lived for his family. Everyone loved him, he was happy and fun to be around and would make people laugh. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and would do anything at the drop of a hat for his family. If you ever needed anything fixed or needed help, he would be there in a heartbeat. In addition to his parents, Dick was predeceased by his beloved wife, Frances Hunt, his mother, Lillian Petersen and his brothers, Billy and Eddie Hunt.
He is survived by his children, Brenda (John) Sportman and David (Shelley) Hunt; his grandchildren, J.P. (Shawna), Justin and Morgan Sportman, Alyssa (Mason) Tallman and David Hunt; and several in-laws, nieces, and nephews. The family would like to thank Glendale Nursing Home for their excellent care and continued compassion and support.
