Schenectady- Richard A. Bell, 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 24, 2013, with his loving family by his side. Richard was born in Schenectady, the son of the late Fred and Lena (Venditti) Bell. He was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School. He began his work career with the City of Schenectady;employed in the Emergency Services Division. He was later employed as an assembler withGeneral Electric, Schenectadyin the Gas and Steam Turbine Division, retiring with 29 years of service. He was a member of the Rotterdam Elks Lodge 2157, the G.E. Quarter Century Club and the Mount Carmel Church, Men's Society. Richard will be remembered for his compassionate love of his wife and family and for his unique sense of humor. Richard was the beloved husband of almost 59 years to Patricia (Caputo) Bell; beloved father of Peter (Lynn) Bell of Halfmoon, Kathy (Tom) Rider of Guilderland, Sandra (Ronald ) Muscanell of Charlton; doting grandfather of Derek (Jenna Huneau), Jocelyn Bell; Anthony, Andrewand Thomas Rider; Jason (Kira), Brian, Eric (Laura Blackman) Muscanell; beloved brother in law of Doris (James) Fiorillo of Schenectady and Richard Caputo of Rotterdam. Richard is also survived by his beloved great granddaughter, Gianna Muscanell and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held Wednesday March 27 from 5 to 7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin Thursday 8:15 am at the funeral home, followed at 9am by a Liturgy of the Word at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Schenectady. Burial will follow in St. Cyril Cemetery, Rotterdam. Richard's family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Ellis Hospital Emergency Room, ICU, A6 and A4 for their wonderful care of Richard.
