Rotterdam - Remo Di Cocco, 83, of Rotterdam, passed peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2022. Born in Fontechiari, Frosinone, Italy, Remo was the son of the late Enrico and Adelina Longo Di Cocco. Remo emigrated to the United States in 1955 with his family and graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1960. After serving honorably in the US Army, Remo worked in construction for several years in New Jersey before taking a job as a draftsman at General Electric in Schenectady. He later worked in logistics for several years before retiring from GE. At times Remo volunteered at the Festa at Our Lady of the Assumption Church where he attended Mass. He enjoyed fishing and skiing and served as the treasurer at the Hickory Hill Ski Center for several years. In addition to his parents, Remo was also predeceased by his brother Eugene Di Cocco who died in 2009. Remo is survived by his brothers; John (Faustine) Di Cocco of Niskayuna and Vincent (Maria Pia) Di Cocco of Rotterdam, nieces and nephews; Enrico (Meredith) Di Cocco, Stefano Di Cocco, Mark (Becky) Di Cocco, Remi (Ken) Woodbeck, Lidia Di Cocco, Dorian (Kristie) Di Cocco, Andrea (Max) Wagenblass and Gregory Di Cocco as well as eight beloved great nieces and nephews. Remo was a kind and considerate man. He was a devoted family member, always attentive to his siblings and to the rest of the family, including being the main care provider for his mother. Remo’s family would like to extend their appreciation to the caregivers at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital and the staff at Ellis ICU for their compassion and care during his time there. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6-8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin on Friday, 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed at 10 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church. Burial will follow at St’s Cyril & Method Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
