Rotterdam – Raymond C. Ryan, 76, passed away Friday April 13, 2018. Born in Albany, he was the son of Joseph and Mildred Heidelmark Ryan. He served our country in the United States Navy from 1960-1964 aboard the USS Remey. Ray worked at the Golub Corporation for 33 years as a forklift operator before retiring. He was the Vice President of the Board of Directors for the White Birch Condominiums which earned him the nickname “The Mayor of White Birch”. He was also a member of the Rotterdam Seniors. Ray was an avid sports fan especially when it came to fishing and the New York Giants and Yankees. He is survived by his wife, Edna Markert Ryan. Two children; John Ryan (Trudy Martin) and Kathleen Ryan Dickey (Mark Case). Ray is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Daniel P. Ryan and his 5 siblings, Donald and Joseph Ryan, Helen VanHattum, Lori Tanksi and Mary Greishaber. Calling hours will be held Monday from 5-7 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin 10:45 am Tuesday at the funeral home followed by an 11:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gabriel’s Church 3040 Hamburg St., Rotterdam. Burial with military honors will follow at Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.
