Raymond P. Mack, age 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1st, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital, in the company of his loving family. Ray was born on March 16th, 1946, in Schenectady, NY to the late Joseph and Genevieve Zobielski Mack.
After high school, Ray enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam from 1968-1969. His honorable dedication earned him the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, 2 Overseas Bars, and the Sharpshooter M14. He was then relieved from active duty and later returned to the Army Reserve to fulfill his remaining service obligation of 2 years, before being honorably discharged home.
Ray began his longstanding career as a machine operator with General Electric Company in Schenectady. He worked for 30 plus years, before retiring in 2000. Aside from his trade, Ray loved spending time bowling with friends, watching horse-racing, visiting the casinos, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Ray is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth C. “Liz” Mack; his loving daughter, Debbie Mack - Piccirilli; his dogs, Shilo and Jasper, and his cat, Summer. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Joanne Dourth; his nieces, Cheryle Robinson, Michele Dourth, Betty-Jo Dourth and Cassandra Dourth; his nephew, Shawn Mack; along with several great-nieces and nephews; and his grand-dogs, Sandy, Phoebe and Bandit.
In addition to his parents, Ray is preceded in death by his brothers, Joe and Paul Mack.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, August 10th, 2026, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam, NY.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
Interment with Military Honors will follow at 1:00 PM, in Saints Cyril & Method Cemetery, Rotterdam, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered in Ray’s name to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12302.
