Rotterdam - Raymond D. Judd, Jr. of Rotterdam unexpectedly passed into eternal life on January 1st, 2018. Born in Niskayuna, NY on May 1st, 1984, Ray was a 2002 graduate of Schalmont Central School where he was a member of the football and wrestling teams. He also graduated with honors from Schenectady County Community College in 2008. Ray was a true animal lover as well as an avid music lover and a devoted fan of the Grateful Dead. He enjoyed travelling around the country to attend music festivals. He also enjoyed camping, playing guitar and spending time with his family and friends, regaling us with his ability to recall almost everything he ever saw or learned. Ray was the foreman for his father’s business, Bluebolt Fabrications LLC in Rotterdam. Ray achieved the rank of Eagle Scout while a member of the BSA Troop 54 in Rotterdam and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was also a member of the Rotterdam Elks Lodge 2157. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Dorothy Sitterly, his paternal grandmother, Phyllis Laverty, his great-grandmother, Florence Cassella and his beloved beagle, Jerry. Ray is survived by his parents, Raymond and Virginia Judd, sister, Christina (Robert) Snyder, grandparents, Henry and Barbara Judd, grandfather, James D. Laverty and his nephews, Gabriel Brown and Finnick Snyder, all of Rotterdam. He is survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 7th from 2-4pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue in Rotterdam. A celebration of Ray’s life will take place at 4pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Charitable contributions in memory of Ray may be designated to St. Peter’s Addiction Recovery Center (SPARC) through the St. Peter’s Hospital Foundation.
