Schenectady - Raymond D. Cook “Cookie”, 57, passed away on Thursday, June 3rd, 2021 at Albany Medical Center. Ray was born in Schenectady the son of the late Edna Carol (Fuller) Kowalski. He was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. Ray worked at Union College for 30 years in the Facilities department as a cleaner. He was a fun loving and caring person who could light up a room with his many sayings and signature gestures. Ray was an avid Union College sports fan with a passion for the Union College hockey program. He had a special bond with the hockey players and coaches who accepted him as one of their own. The highlight of Ray’s time at Union College was in 2014 when the hockey team arranged for Ray to go to the Frozen Four in Philadelphia where he was able to see the team he loved so much win the National Championship. Many of Ray’s fondest memories were of the times he spent interacting with the Union College community. He will be deeply missed by many people who loved him dearly. A private graveside service will be held at East Galway Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in memory of Ray to “Friends of Union Athletics”. Donations can be made online at unionathletics.com/give or via check. Please make checks payable to Union College with “Friends of Union Athletics” on the memo line.
