Ramono E "Ray" Fratus

Ramono E. “Ray” Fratus, 86, of Schenectady, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016 at the Baptist Health Nursing & Rehabilitation center in Scotia. Ray was born in Erie, PA. the only child of Emanuel and Vera Chapin Fratus. He served in the United States Navy from 1949 to 1950. Rayworked as a Lineman with Niagara Mohawk for 40 years and retired in 1993. Ray played in several area softball leagues and served as President, Manager and player with the Country Inn League and also managed and played In the Sportsman’s League. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting and especially enjoyed traveling in his motor home to spend the winter in Lake Wales, Fla. Ray is survived by his wife of 24 years, Donna Phillips Fratus, four children; Michael (Kristen) Fratus, Tracy (Erin) Fratus, Rae (John) DeCarlo, and Patricia (Michael) Green, his step children; Chris (Howard) Moore and John Cerasuolo, several grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A Calling hour will be held on Sunday from 3-4 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. A memorial service will begin at the funeral home at 4 pm. Memorial donations may be made to Baptist Health Nursing & Rehabilitation, 297 North Ballston Ave. Scotia, NY 12302 or to a charity of one’s choice.
