Guilderland, NY-Mr. Ralph G. Mancini, Esq. died peacefully Monday evening, October 26th in Guilderland. Born to Mary and Rocco Mancini in in Amsterdam, New York on March 24, 1934, Ralph grew up in nearby Palatine Bridge and graduated from Canajoharie High School in 1952, where he lettered in football.He went on to graduate Phi Beta Kappa from Colgate University in 1956, and was a member of the Kappa Delta Rho fraternity.Ralph served two years of active duty in the U.S. Army and 1957 to 1958 and received an honorable discharge. While working at Manufacturers Hanover Trust in New York City, he attended night school to earn a law degree from New York Law School in 1961. He married Carol Christie Mancini, a high school teacher in Fort Plain, NY, in 1965 and eventually settled in Guilderland, where he worked at the Albany-based law firm of O'Connell and Aronowitz. Carol passed away in 1976.In 1980, he started his own law firm Jeneroff, Brandow, Mancini, and Roth in Albany, which moved to the old Star Plaza in Guilderland in 1989.In 1992, he and John Hayko of Guilderland formed Mancini and Hayko, PC at the same location.Mancini was a recognized legal expert in zoning, planning, and land use. Ralph was active in community and civic organizations and local politics. He became an Albany County Republican Committeeman in 1968.He was the Assistant Guilderland Town Attorney for Zoning and Planning for 26 years.He was a board member and attorney for the Learning Disabilities Association of New York State. He was a parishioner of the Church of Christ the King for 50 years.He coached baseball in the Pine Bush Little League at Tawasentha Park, and was past President of the Guilderland Athletic Booster Club. In his work with the Booster Club, he met his beloved companion of 30 years'”Sonia Goudreau. He cherished his leisure time.He was an avid collector-especially of stamps, toy soldiers, and memorabilia of the Beech-Nut packing company in his hometown of Canajoharie.He made an annual pilgrimage to Maine-where he visited with friends and family along the coast of Maine.He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed casino and cruise ship excursions. True to his Italian heritage, Ralph was devoted to his family.He did not miss one of his son's 80 basketball games at Guilderland Central High School. He was actively involved in the lives of his many nieces and nephews, and his two beautiful granddaughters. Ralph is survived by his son, Stephen (Elizabeth), his companion, Sonia Goudreau, brother, Rocco (Terry), sister, Mary Elizabeth, brothers-in-law, Lindon and Robert, nieces and nephews, Anna, Adell, Paul, Mary Catherine, Gina, Michele, Mark, and Lisa and granddaughters, Caroline and Helen. He was predeceased by his brother, Alfonso. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a Mass of Christian Burial which will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 10 am at Church of Christ the King, 20 Sumter Avenue, Albany with Father James Fitzpatrick officiating.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 4-7 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Turnpike in Guilderland.Burial will follow in Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, Canajoharie, New York.Military honors will be offered by the U.S. Army. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Springfield College, Gift Records 263, Springfield, MA 01109 or www.springfieldcollege.edu/gifts, in fond memory of Carol and Ralph Mancini.
