Mr. Peter F. Russo, age 67, passed away on Saturday morning, October 10, 2015 at Albany Medical Center; after a fatal accident. He had the love and comfort of his family by his side at the time of his passing. He was born on December 1, 1947 in New York City, son of the late Salvatore R. Russo and Dorothy (Danzglock) Russo. Peter was raised in Queens and educated at Brooklyn College. In 1970 he was united in marriage with Linda (Cocuzzi) Russo and they have enjoyed a devoted and loving union for over 45 years. Survivors include his wife Linda Russo; daughters Gina Russo, Cristina Russo and son in-law Justin Balch; grandson, Antonio Russo; brother Christopher Russo, his wife Karen, and their daughters Kelly and Megan; his in-laws, Anthony Cocuzzi, Lawrence Cocuzzi and wife Marie; aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. Peter served in the U.S. Navy and was the plank owner on the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy CVA-67.He was recently retired from the N.Y.S. Dept. of Labor as a Safety & Health Inspector. He was formerly employed as a Communications Technician with AT&T. Peter enjoyed world travel, sports, wine making,and social activities with his friends and relatives. He was an active member of Order of the Sons of Italy, Lodge #321 and enjoyed being in the bocce tournaments. Peter was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a loyal and honorable man with a genuineness like no other. His ingenuity, strengths and talents were amazing. He was loved and respected by all those who were blessed to have known him. He will be deeply missed. The family will be present at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam (518-355-5770) to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.The funeral will commence at 8:15 am on Wednesday, Oct. 14th from the chapel of DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home and at 9 am from St. John the Evangelist Church with Father Richard Carlino, pastor, officiating.Procession will follow to Saratoga National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest and military honors will be offered.
