Peter N Cuomo

Rotterdam-Peter N. Cuomo, age 77, a lifelong Rotterdam resident passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, April 18, 2015 at Ellis Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born in Schenectady on December 7, 1937, son of the late Ralph and Victoria (DeLorenzo) Cuomo. He was united in marriage with Arlene Tortora on June 28, 1969; a blessed union of 45 years. He was last employed with the Schenectady County Highway Dept. as a Light Equipment Operator, retiring at the age of 55.Peter enjoyed spending time at home with his family, long rides through the Adirondacks, and his hobby of model trains. Survivors include his devoted family; his wife Arlene; daughters Sharon Welch and husband Paul of Rotterdam and Stephanie Dixon also of Rotterdam; a brother Ronald Cuomo and wife Donna of Rotterdam; two sisters, Marie Martini and Anita Cooper both of Rotterdam; a granddaughter, Amanda Welch; many nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved canine companion, Lady. Peter was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick Cuomo. The family will receive family and friends at DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. Peter's funeral will commence at 9:00 am on Thursday, April 23rd from DeMarco Stone Funeral Home where prayer will be offered and at 9:30am from Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Rotterdam.Procession will follow to St. Cyril's Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.Kindly consider memorial contributions in Peter's name to Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave., Scotia, NY 12302.
