Paula Anna (Wendler) Wagner

d. February 23, 2018

Guilderland - Paula Anna Wendler Wagner, 90, passed peacefully on February 23rd, reaching up to Heaven for hands that were lovingly reaching down to hers, to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, with family by her side. Paula was born in Elizabeth, NJ to Pauline and Charles Wendler. She moved to Altamont early in her marriage to start a family, then moved to Guilderland, where she lived for 62 years, raising 6 children. Paula loved life and always had a great sense of fun and adventure. She loved nature, spending weekends in the Adirondacks from May til November, exploring its’ wonder with her children, teaching us to love it deeply. Paula loved nightly campfires, and often called in owls from across the lake. Paula was a nature inspired poet and artist, displaying her pen and ink pieces washed in watercolor in her home and on exhibit in the community. Music filled her life daily, singing in church choir, the BH Oratorio Society, and humming along with WMHT daily. Paula was a giving person, encouraging and mothering everyone who came into her life. At 50, she went to college for her RN degree, and worked at, then, St. Clares hospital for 10 years, retiring from nursing, but not from giving, she worked for Hospice, volunteered on the local ambulance corps, did blood pressures for the Town of Guilderland, and taught CPR and art in adult ed classes. Still full of adventure at 75, Paula enjoyed riding with the Gold Wing motorcycle club, proudly wearing her leather vest and boots. Survivors include her children, Ellen Wagner, of Boulder, CO, Glenn Wagner, of Derry, NH, Eric Wagner(Debbie), of Salem, MA, Karen LeMay (Bob), of Pattersonville NY, Evan Wagner, of Guilderland, NY, and Kristen Wagner (Jim), of Shepherdsville, KY, 6 grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer, Anne Marie, Bob, Gwen, Grace, and 1 great grandchild, Brayden. Please visit the Demarco-Stone website to leave a message for the family. Paula wished to have her ashes remain in her beloved Adirondacks. A memorial celebration of her life will be held in the Spring and noted on the website. We would like to thank Albany Hospice for their compassionate help.
