Rotterdam, NY-Mr. Paul F. Williams, age 90, of Rotterdam, passed away on Thursday morning, October 22, 2015 at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady in the presence of his supportive and loving family. He was born on July 21, 1925 in Arlington, MA son of the late Thomas F. and Faith R. (Kelley) Williams and educated in Massachusetts schools where he also attended college.A proud World War II veteran, Paul served with the US Army.He enlisted on October 21, 1943 and was honorably discharged on March 21, 1946, holding the rank of Private, First Class at Fort Dix, NJ.On April 19, 1950, he was united in marriage with Mary R. O'Donnell in Somerville, MA a loving union of 65 years.He was the recipient of the American Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal and the World War II Victor Medal.Paul worked for New England Telephone before moving to New York and opening Wildec Technical Service Inc. as a communication consultant for 25 years. Mr. Williams was a devoted community member in Rotterdam.He remained very active holding memberships with the Rotary Club, Rotterdam Business Association and served on the Board at the Boys and Girls Club.Paul especially looked forward to his weekly outings with the "Over the Hill Gang" at Mallozzi's. Paul loved traveling with his wife and family. Many winters were spent in St. Croix and summers at Cape Cod. You could often find Paul watching a Red Sox game with a tasty lobster roll close at hand. Relaxing for Paul meant listening to music with jazz being a favorite. Along with being dedicated to community, he was equally dedicated to his family proving to be a devoted family man.He will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Linda Harrison and husband Roger of Glenville, Thomas Williams and wife Diane of St. Croix, James Williams and wife Kathleen of CT, and Paula Williams of Scotia; a brother, John Williams and wife Phyllis of MA; grandchildren, Jessica, Brittany, Laura, Amy and Maxine.Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by a brother, Leo Williams. The family will receive relatives and friends at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam on Monday, October 26, 2015 from 5-8 p.m.Mr. Williams' funeral will commence at 9:30 am on Tuesday, Oct. 27th from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 10 am from St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Rotterdam where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered.Procession will follow to Gerald B.H Solomon National Saratoga National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.Military honors will be offered.Kindly consider memorial offerings to St. Gabriel Church or the Rotterdam Boys and Girls Club.The family would like to offer their gratitude to the professionals and staff at Ellis Hospital 5A and Kingsway Community for their kindness and compassion.
