Paul J. Mastriani, 93 of Schenectady, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center. Born in Bridgeport, CT, Paul was the oldest son of the late Anthony and Mary Flory Mastriani. He was employed with General Electric in the Gas Turbine Department and also worked as a Barber retiring in 1984. Paul served in the United States Army during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. An accomplished musician, Paul played the Bass, Violin and Viola and was a member of the Schenectady Symphony Orchestra. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, the GE ¼ Century Club, the local musicians union, and was the former musician's union recording secretary. Paul also loved attending the annual Bellevue Reunions which he organized for many years. In addition to his parents, Paul was also predeceased by his beloved wife Betty Capra Mastriani whom he married on November 27, 1948. Betty died in 1984. He is survived by his brother Joseph (Laurie) Mastriani of Virginia, his niece; Mary Jo Mastrianiand nephew, Joseph Mastriani, both of Pennsylvania. Calling hours will be held on Monday evening from 6-8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday 8:45 from the funeral home followed at 9:30 by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church. Burial with military honors will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
