Paul D Grippo

August 25, 1938 — June 3, 2022

Scotia - Paul David Grippo, known lovingly as Poppy, loved fiercely and will be missed deeply by the many friends and family he leaves behind and poured his love into. While it will never be enough, Paul’s long and beautiful life was full; with his many hobbies, interests, and of course his family which he treasured above all else. He retired after many years of service as the Schenectady County Highway Road Maintenance Supervisor. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and was an avid Lionel model trains collector. He leaves behind a beautiful, meticulously curated collection of trains set up and displayed that he proudly showed off to anyone who asked. Wearing his conductors hat he rotated which engines would cruise through “Grippoville” with all of it’s perfectly placed streets, cars, villagers, and handmade shrubbery. If he wasn’t out and about or tinkering with engines and tools in his makeshift workshop, he would likely be found in his armchair keeping track of his Yankees. Paul loved the Yankees, just slightly more than how much he loved to criticize the Yankees. He touched many, through his generosity, kindness, and endless charisma, and made friends everywhere he went. In Paul’s passing his family takes comfort in his return to his beloved wife Barbara Jane Grippo who passed away in 1990. Paul is survived by; his two children his son Gary Grippo and daughter Laurie Anne Lochner, her husband Micheal Lochner, her children his grandson Kyle Micheal Lochner and granddaughter Barbara Rose Lochner and her fiancé Mark Thomas Hurey. Poppy will be missed as fervently as he loved all of those around him. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 12-2 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A 2 pm funeral service will immediately follow. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie.
