Schenectady – Paul DeMarco, 84, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 9th, 2023. Paul was born in San Giovanni e Paolo, Italy, a son of the late Joseph and Maria (DeFilippo) DeMarco. In 1954,Paul came to America aboard the SS Andrea Doria. He made his way to Schenectady and was then employed by Mt. Pleasant Bakery as a baker for several years. After that, Paul began his over 25-year career working as machinist at the General Electric Co. in the Turbine division. After retirement, Paul loved spending his winter months at his home in Boynton Beach, Florida. He was a longtime member of St. Anthony’s Church and could always be found volunteering at their annual Festa. He was also a member of the Sons of Italy. Paul loved his garden and took great pride in all his home-grown vegetables. He enjoyed making his own wine and tomato sauce from the fruits of his garden. Paul also loved to gobowling, playinggolf and bocce. He enjoyed his morning walks. Paul was the happiest when his family was gathered together around the table. He always loved sharing his stories with his grandchildren. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years, Felicia (Bucci) DeMarco; his sons, Joseph (Joni), Frederick (Rosanna) and Angelo (Sue); grandchildren, Joey (Nicole), Kailyn (Joe), Vinny (Lauren), Lauren (Joshua), Anthony (Valeria), Nicholas (Arianna), Dominick (Lauren) and Cassandra,as well as 4 great grandchildren, Logan, Gia, Stella and Gianni. He also leaves behind his siblings, John DeMarco (Elisa), Mario DeMarco (Jane) andAntoniettaFazzone (Louis). He was predeceased by his brother, Angelo (Gioconda) and sister, Guiseppina (John). Paul is also survived by his sister-in-laws, Mary Caracciolo (John), Joann Capobianco (Maurizio) and Anna Zarrillo (Tony). He was also predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Federico and Delores Bucci andbrother-in-laws, Peter Bucci (Sandy) and Marco Caracciolo. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Calling hours will be on Friday from 4-8pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10am at St. Anthony’s Church, 331 Seward Place, Schenectady. Paul will be laid to rest at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
