Patti Ann Young (Hurd), age 57, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025 at her home in Rotterdam, N.Y. She was born on December 14, 1967 in Gloversville N.Y. She was the daughter of the late Ruth Hurd (Ovitt).
Patti was a graduate of Gloversville High School. She began working at The Johnstown Knitting Mill. She then became a licensed Registered Nurse. Patti was a dedicated R.N. Supervisor employed by several addiction treatment centers, most recently by The Hope House. She was forced to end her career due to her health.
Patti is survived by her sister Cheryl Sassi (her husband Lou, nephews Adam and Aric), her cousin by blood/sister by heart Vicky Greathouse (her children Matthew and Marina); her God Mother and cousin Tracy Diener (husband John); her best friend of many years Jennifer Miller (her husband Chris, their children Brandon, Holly, and Taylor); her friends Braden Anttanasio (fiance Arielle, children Isabella, Noah, and Jackson); Adriana Rodriguez; and her boyfriend J.P. Christiano.
She was preceded in death by her brother Thomas Hurd Sr (surviving nephew Thomas Hurd Jr and niece Melissa Eden); and her late husband Alan Young. Patti leaves behind many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Patti had a fantastic sense of humor. She was known for her kindness and generosity. She was the first to help and the last to leave. She was a free spirit who loved fiercely. She made you feel safe and loved knowing she was a part of your life. She loved girl time, family time, traveling, tattoos, horror movies, and sleepovers with junk food. Only Patti could pull off those vibrant hair colors that we all loved.
Those who knew Patti knew that her dog Sirius meant the entire world to her, loving him like her son. He was her absolute best friend for over six years. They had an unconditional bond like no other.
Per Patti’s wishes she entered eternal rest through cremation entrusted to DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, Rotterdam, N.Y. She will be laid to rest privately alongside her Mother at The Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown, N.Y. A Celebration of Life will be planned for this Summer.
