Guilderland - Patrick Anthony DeLorenzo passed away peacefully on August 8th, 2022 at the age of 64. Pat was diagnosed with a particularly aggressive form of ALS in 2021, and put up a courageous and tenacious fight against this terrible disease. He spent his final months in the comfort of his home under the care of his devoted wife, children, and a collection of family and close friends who became known as “Pat’s Angels”. Pat was born on September 16th, 1957 in Schenectady, NY. Growing up, Pat was recognized for his incredible athleticism. He was an avid baseball player who was known in the Rotterdam baseball league as a skilled pitcher and short stop. Pat was a 1975 graduate of Schalmont High School. His passion for baseball led him to play on the baseball team at Siena College, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in marketing. Pat began his career working as a food broker and later transitioned to a position in New York State’s Department of Taxation and Finance, where he worked diligently for 30 years. He was known for his unparalleled kindness, endearing nature, and bargain hunting expertise. He was, quite literally, a friend to everyone he met. Pat’s biggest joy in life was his children and his grandchildren, all of whom he treasured. His favorite saying was “slowly and methodically”, and this is how he chose to live his life, focusing on the things that were important to him and striving for “peace and harmony”. Pat is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 40 years, Sandie, who cared for him throughout his illness. He is also survived by his son Kyle DeLorenzo; his son Eric (Leslie) DeLorenzo; his daughter Courtney (Michael) Piernock; his two precious granddaughters, Cybil and Emily; and his sister Pamela (Peter) Wintergerst of Ballston Lake, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews. Pat is predeceased by his father Pasquale and mother Jane (Krystofik) DeLorenzo. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Peter’s ALS Regional Center at 19 Warehouse Row Albany, NY 12205 or www.givetostpeters.org/donate, designated to St. Peter’s ALS Regional Center. A celebration of life will be held at Lynnwood Reformed Church on Carman Road on Friday, August 12th. Visitation at 10:30am. Service to follow at 12pm.
