Pamela Coombs Tygert

SCHENECTADY - Pamela Coombs Tygert, 73, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, September 19, 2026. She was born on June 18, 1953 to the late Richard and Vivian Morrison Coombs. Growing up in Greenwich, NY, with her 4 siblings, Pam loved to perform. Pam attended Fredonia College and Maria College and became a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant. She helped countless students over 25 years at Capital Region BOCES. Pam and her late husband Alan raised their three children, imparting the values of love, service, and education. Pam was very active in the Bellevue Reformed Church sharing her devotions and deep faith. She mentored several students in Schenectady City SD through Kids Hope USA, and visited faithfully with the elderly for a decade after retiring. She was an avid reader and writer. Pam greatly enjoyed her last few years living at Kingsway Village. Her most cherished role was being “Grammy”. Pam and Alan delighted in their grandchildren and especially loved watching them play sports and perform.

In addition to her parents, Pam was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Alan Tygert; son-in-law, Tim Neild; sister, Debbie Miller; sister-in-law, Cindy Tygert; and brother-in-law, Jim Bailey. Pam is survived by her children, Mark Tygert, Teresa (Tim) Kneezel, and Beth (Brendan) Halayko; her grandchildren, Joanna, Clara, and Oliver Kneezel; Cate and Brayden Halayko; her siblings, Rick (Pam) Coombs, Nisi (Shawn) McCormick, and Bonnie (Bob) Warren; brother-in-law, Don Miller, brother-in-law, Kent Tygert, and sister-in-law, Carol Bailey; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, September 26th at 10am at Bellevue Reformed Church, 2000 Broadway, Schenectady. Colorful attire requested.
