Olive M Hinman

Rotterdam - Olive M. Hinman, 92, of Rotterdam, passed peacefully on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at the Capstone Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Amsterdam. Olive was born in Syracuse, NY. She graduated from Marcellus High School and later graduated from Potsdam Teachers College. She received her Master’s in Education from SUNY Albany. She was employed as a teacher with the Niskayuna and Schenectady school districts. Olive also worked for many years as as a Real Estate agent with several area realtors and was the past president of the Women’s Council of Realtors. She was also active in her church as the choir leader for the adult and children’s choir, Treasurer and Sunday school superintendant with the Church of the Nazarene. Olive was predeceased by her ex-husband; Olin T. Hinman, her parents, Milan and Mary Larcom Hinman and her four siblings. She is survived by her children; Edward (Susan) Hinman of Scotia, William Hinman of Rensselaer, James (Carmella) Hinman Sr. of Colonie and Robert Hinman of Scotia, two grandchildren; James Hinman Jr and Catherine Crowley and her great grandson, Alex Crowley. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 10 to 12 noon at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Burial will be private.
