Norman "Norm" Ronald Montross, 83, passed away February 12th, 2016.Born in Troy, New York June 20th, 1932 the son of the late James George and Martha Montross.He was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, where he was on the football team.Norm served 20 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as Master Sergeant.He also played football for the USAF.After retiring from the service, he held down various jobs including bus driver for Yankee Trails and security guard for the College of Saint Rose.He was an avid New York Giants and Yankees fan, loved RV camping in Saranac Lake, and restoring antique cars. Norm was survived by his beloved companion of over 30 years, Carolee Russell; his beloved children, Ronald (Lorraine) Montross of Norwalk, Connecticut, Pamela (Jeff) Montross of Punta Gorda, Florida, Scott (Galena) Montross of Albany, Oregon, Kelly (Ronnie) Coppola of Verona, New Jersey, and step-daughter, Jerilyn (Ralph) DeNofio of Mariaville, New York.He is also survived by his brother Sanford (Ann) Montross of Mesa, Arizona; grandchildren Ronald II (Samantha), Taylor, and Conner Montross, George and Millie Montross, Lucas Coppola, Darren and Christopher DeNofio, and several nieces and nephews.Norm was predeceased by his brother Kermit Montross, sister Patricia Omel, and step-son, Daren Russell. A calling period will be held Monday June 20th, 2016 from 9:30-10:30 am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am at the funeral home.Those in attendance may follow in procession to the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville.A memorial service with Military honors will be held in the Committal Shelter, followed by interment of his ashes in the Columbarium Wall. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany, NY 12205.
